My Creative Process
"The creative process is a process of surrender, not control. Mystery is at the heart of creativity"
Julia Cameron
Studio days are always special. Inspiration usually arrives as I sit with a morning coffee outside my garden studio looking through my sketchbooks, photographs and art journals.

At the moment I am working on a series of ten abstract paintings. As a group of work, it enables me to evaluate the structure and balance of each individual painting and then l am less inclined to overwork things and become too tight or precious.

I use texture, collage and mixed media in my work, which is inspired by both Cornwall's landscape and also the textured work of Spanish painter, Tapies, and the Italian artists,
Burri, Fontana and Manzoni who were part of the Arte Povera movement in the 1950's.
Their work is still current today.
